Review Process
Journal on Math and Science Educational Technology is a double-blind peer-reviewed Journal. This means that both the reviewer's and the author's identities are concealed from the reviewers, and vice versa, throughout the review process. Submitted papers are evaluated by anonymous referees for contribution, originality, and relevance.
All submitted manuscript is first reviewed by an editor. The editor will evaluate whether the submission is suitable for the Journal of Math and Science Educational Technology's focus and scope, or if it has a major methodological flaw and a high similarity score, as determined by iThenticate. All the manuscripts must be free from content plagiarism.
Before submitting articles to reviewers, they are first checked for similarity/plagiarism using a tool by a member of the editorial team. The papers submitted to the Journal of Math and Science Educational Technology must have a similarity level of less than 20%. Reviewer selection is crucial to the publication process, and we base our choice on several factors, including expertise, reputation, specific recommendations, and our own prior experience with a reviewer's characteristics. We check with potential reviewers before sending them manuscripts for review. Reviewers reserve the right to reject the script if the script review doesn't match the fields/expertise. Reviewers should be aware that all correspondence in this journal contains confidential information, which should be treated as such.
The submitted manuscript will be reviewed by at least two (2) reviewers for checking contribution, originality, relevance, novelty, and presentation. The reviewer will give a comment and submit the scientific value. Reviewers' comments are then sent to the corresponding author for necessary actions and responses. The reviewer will improve the contents of the manuscript, and each reviewer is given two (2) weeks to conduct the review. If, within the specified time, the reviewer does not respond, the review process is replaced by another reviewer with the same qualifications.
Review Outcomes
Every submitted article is independently reviewed by at least two reviewers (Double-anonymized Peer-Review). After being reviewed, there will be four kinds of editor decisions based on the reviewers' recommendations:
- Reject - Rejected manuscripts will not be published, and authors will not have the opportunity to resubmit a revised version of the manuscript to the Journal of Math and Science Educational Technology.
- Resubmit for Review - The submission needs to be re-worked, but with significant changes, may be accepted. However, it will require a second round of review.
- Accept with Revisions - Manuscripts receiving an accept-pending-revisions decision will be published in the Journal of Math and Science Educational Technology under the condition that minor/major modifications are made. Revisions will be reviewed by an editor to ensure necessary updates are made prior to publication.
- Accept - Accepted manuscripts will be published in the current form with no further modifications required.
The suggested decision will be evaluated in an editorial board meeting. Afterward, the editor will send the final decision to the corresponding author.
The reviewers' and editor's suggestions will be conveyed to the author, who will then have an opportunity to revise the paper. A manuscript returned to an author for revision can be held for a maximum of three weeks.
